Paris should host Olympic Esports Week at the end of 2024

On Monday January 16, 2023, the national esports strategy for the next three years was unveiled by Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games..

The Ministers of Sports, Digital Transition and Telecommunications and Culture have been working for several weeks on France's esports strategy.

The result five objectives: 

• Structuring the esports ecosystemvia the creation of a national structure aimed at piloting and implementing the national esports strategy (development of the practice, supervision, training of actors, high-level, attractiveness, economic development, etc.).
• Better support and oversee the development of amateur practice and sector associations in the territories via the identification of existing territorial structures and the establishment of regional esports branches in two to four pilot regions.
• Remove obstacles to the development of the practice by France by ensuring the responsible promotion of sporting discipline aimed at demonstrate the virtues of this discipline any by preventing the risks associated to a practice that is too addictive, sedentary, isolated or exposed to online violence.
• Strengthen the capacity of the French ecosystem to host major international esports events through the publication of an inter-ministerial instruction allowing the use of the "internationally renowned" talent passport for high-level athletes.
• Mobilize the ecosystem to host Olympic Esports Week in France at the end of 2024, in the wake of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
